Gandhi World Peace Memorial

Ashes of Mahatma Gandhi
I took these shots at The Lake Shrine in California; that is the only place outside of India that the ashes of this great thinker reside
"You must be the change you want to see in the world""Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever. "" I believe that a man is the strongest soldier for daring to die unarmed. "
"Non-violence is the greatest force at the disposal of mankind. It is mightier than the mightiest weapon of destruction devised by the ingenuity of man.
"My religion is based on truth and non-violence. Truth is my God. Non-violence is the means of realising Him"....
That may be one of my favorite quotes by Gandhi. While I can not claim to be as wise or patient, a friend of mine reminded me of my own Non Violent way of social protest. When I was in school (college and high school) anytime I was forced to fill out a form or test that asked for "Race" I would always mark the "Other" box and write in "Human" Of course the test givers never appreciated it, but I never changed it because my answer to them was "Human is a race, are you saying it is not? or Are you saying I am not Human? Why should my race matter in a test?" The test givers, I believe, to avoid lawsuits, usually just stammered a reply. I stood my ground, and the only race that was ever listed under my name, was the only one I feel should matter:
"Human"
