John Trudell is one of my heros. Activist and spoken word artist John Trudell is known for his eloquence and his ability to move people with his words. As a leader of the American Indian Movement of the 1960s and 1970s, Trudell took on the U.S. government’s treatment of Native people, focusing national attention on Indian issues. In response, the FBI kept a watchful eye on Trudell and created a 17,000-page dossier on his activities. From the FBI "He is extremely eloquant and therefore extremely dangerous"
After his family died in a suspicious fire in 1979, Trudell left organized politics and began to write poetry, soon after he put his words to music. Please go to JohnTrudell.com or his myspace for more about his life and you will be amazed. He tries to make the government and all of society realise the harm we are doing to ourselves. His poetry and word inspire me and I hope they will make you think also:
The Great Lie is that it is civilization. It's not civilized. It has been the most blood thirsty, brutalizing system ever impossed on this planet. That is not civilization, that is the Great Lie. Or, if it does represent civilization, and that is truely what civilization is, then the Great Lie is that civilization is good for us!~ John Trudell
Crazy horse, we hear what you say, one earth, one mother.
One does not sell the earth that others walk upon
We are the land, how do we sell our mother?
How do we sell the stars? How do we sell the air?
Crazy horse we hear what you say.
Too many people standing their ground, standing the wrong ground
Predators face, he possessed a race,
Possession, a war that does not end
Children of God feed on Children of Earth
These days people don’t care for people,
These days are the hardest,
